Drinking from the Saucer
I don't have a lot of riches,
And sometimes the going's rough;
But while I've friends to love
I think I'm rich enough.
I'll just thank God for blessings
That His mercy has bestowed,
I'm drinking from the saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
If God gives me strength and courage,
When the way grows steep and rough,
I'll not ask for any other blessings;
I'm already blessed enough.
May I never be too busy
To help bear another's load,
Yes, I'm drinking from the saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

Weyburn General Hospital on Februrary 11, 2005. Arnold was born
on December 20, 1915 in Welwyn Village but grew up in the Old
Welwyn School District. Being the oldest in a family of six he
knew what it was like to do without and work hard leaving school
at the age of 15 to work on the family farm. Later he worked locally,
spent a couple of winters in Ontario, and came back to Crystal
City, MB. When his brothers, Bruce and Millan, enlisted in World
War II he returned home to work the family farm. In October 1946
Arnold married Nina Wells; settled in the Old Welwyn District;
and with lots more hard work and good management became a successful
farmer. During these years he served on the local Wheat Pool Board
and the Old Welwyn School Board, as well as helping with the district
activities and quietly helping his neighbors when needed. Here
their children, Linda and Craig grew up, and following their parents'
credo became successful in their chosen fields. After 28 years
of farming, they moved to Moosomin in 1974, where Arnold worked
for C.C.I.L. until retirement age. Arnold had varied interests.
He enjoyed a game of bridge, dancing, reading, visiting, traveling,
sports, and was an ardent curler and fisherman. He was a quiet
unassuming man who cared deeply for those closest to him. Throughout
his lifetime he was his mother's "mainstay", especially
during her last years. He had a special rapport with his grandchildren,
who enjoyed the love and companionship of their "Good Day,
Grandpa". He will be sadly missed by his family and friends
