Sonny was born in Oungre on Jan 3, 1929 and spent his early years there. He quit school in grade nine to work for farmers around Oungre and Bromhead. In the early 50's his brother-in-law George asked him to go farming. Together they started in the Huntoon area and then west to the Halbrite area. The family still lives on that farm today. Sonny married Opal Jorde June 2, 1962. They settled on the farm and had the privilege of raising their three sons there. Sonny was a family man and travelled many miles with the boys as they played hockey and other activities. Due to ill health, Sonny retired near the end of the 1990's early 2000 but continued to help his renters as much as he could. Sonny lost the use of his legs in Sept of 2011 and moved to the Weyburn Special Care Home in December where he spent the last 18 months. Thank you to everyone who made the last years of his life, enjoyable. Interment Service for Sonny was held on Friday July 12, at 1:00 p.m. at Westphalia Cemetery, Midale.
