Police investigate mischief, disputes, and an accident

The Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of an assault after a 19-year-old female allegedly punched and kicked a 17-year-old female during an altercation on Aug. 17. The victim did not report any injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

Members of the Weyburn Police Service attended to a local residence to keep the peace after an argument ensued between the homeowner and a door-to-door sales person who would not leave on Aug. 12. The parties were separated and the sales person went on their way.

On Aug. 14, the police received a report of a fail to report an accident after a semi tractor-trailer unit struck the bridge at Third Street and Highway 39, causing damage to the railing. The semi unit then left the scene without reporting to police. The incident remains under investigation.

The police conducted a vehicle stop on Aug. 13 and found the driver, a 21-year-old male, to be suspended from driving. As a result the male was charged with driving while suspended and a 120-day driving suspension was issued.

The Weyburn Police Service received a report of a mischief on Aug. 13 after the victim's vehicle, which had been parked in their driveway, had been entered. The contents of the glove compartment were dumped onto the seat though nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Members of the Weyburn Police Service were called to a local hotel in regard to a group of males who were drunk and becoming disorderly on Aug. 13. Police were able to calm the situation and the individuals left shortly after without further incident.

Police received a call from a local taxi who advising of an extremely intoxicated female in their cab on Aug. 14. Police members were able to locate an address of a relative and transported the female, leaving her in their care.

The Weyburn Police Service was called to a downtown bar in regard to a cause disturbance by fighting. Police found a group of males involved in an altercation on Aug. 15. The individuals were separated and the situation calmed. One individual, a 33-year-old male, was arrested for being drunk in public and lodged in cells. He was later released when sober.

The city police received a report of a mischief to a vehicle that was parked in a downtown parking lot on Aug. 15. The victim reported that during the night someone had let out the air in their vehicle's tires.

A member of the Weyburn Police Service, while stopping a vehicle for speeding on Aug. 16, found the driver, a 52-year-old male, to have a warrant for their arrest from Saskatoon.

The male was arrested on the warrant and later released to appear in court in Saskatoon in September.
