The Weyburn Police Service received a call regarding a vehicle roll-over near the Pioneer elevator on Friday. The vehicle had gone off the road and became submerged in the Souris River just off Highway 39 northwest of Weyburn.
The Weyburn Police Service received a call regarding a vehicle roll-over near the Pioneer elevator on Friday. The vehicle had gone off the road and became submerged in the Souris River just off Highway 39 northwest of Weyburn.
The vehicle was located by police though the occupants were not at the scene. The subsequent investigation located the driver and passenger of the vehicle, a 56-year-old woman from Regina and a 33-year-old man from Weyburn, at a residence in Weyburn, and they did not require medical attention. The circumstance of the accident is being investigated by the RCMP. There were no injuries in the accident.
The Weyburn Police Service assisted the RCMP at an accident on Highway 39 near Ralph on Thursday. A semi tractor trailer unit had collided with an SUV. The accident is being investigated by the RCMP; they reported that the SUV crossed the centre line, forcing the semi to veer into the ditch; the SUV driver was found to be impaired and will be charged.
Police responded to an attempted break-and-enter on King Street on June 19. Both the front and rear door handles were damaged; however, entry was not gained to the house. The incident is under investigation.
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Eighth Street on June 16. It was determined that an argument had taken place between a 22-year-old male and a 17-year-old female. The female had already left the residence upon police arrival. There were no allegations of criminal behavior and with the parties separated there was no further action needed.
A 15-year-old female reported that two 17-year-old males had stolen her roller blades and long board on June 17. An officer located the 17-year-olds, retrieved the items and returned them to the complainant. The situation was mediated without criminal charges being laid.
Police received a complaint on June 18 of a vehicle leaving a business in which two children were sharing the same seatbelt. The vehicle was located the following day and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. He was issued a seatbelt ticket and he was also warned about the complaint from the previous day.
Officers on patrol on June 19 stopped a vehicle on Third Street. The driver exhibited signs of driving while under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently brought in to the police office for a breath test. The 23-year-old male driver was issued a 24-hour suspension as a result of his readings.
On Friday June 20, 2014 Police received a complaint of a vehicle driving erratically on Friday.
The complainant stated the suspect vehicle was braking hard behind the complainant's vehicle while driving on the street. The investigation located the offending vehicle and 26 year old male was warned about his driving actions.
Police responded to a complaint of a fight in the Riverwood area. Two males, aged 23 and 24, were evicted from a party and ended up in a fight with other individuals from the party. Police separated those involved and removed the two males. No criminal charges were laid as a result of the fight.
Police responded to an accident at Fifth Street and Prairie Avenue on Saturday. A west-bound vehicle on Prairie Ave. failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a north-bound vehicle on Fifth Street. The driver of the west-bound vehicle was charged for failing to stop at the stop sign.
On Sunday, police responded to an accident at the Government Road and Highway 39 intersection. An east-bound vehicle and a south-bound vehicle collided in the intersection. The one driver, a 35-year-old female, was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
