The Weyburn Review won two first place general excellence awards at the "Better Newspapers Competition", sponsored by the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association.
The Weyburn Review won two first place general excellence awards at the "Better Newspapers Competition", sponsored by the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association.
In the C circulation of 2,000 to 3,499, the Review won first place for "Best Editorial Page" and "Best Front Page". The Review was also second place for "Best Overall Paper".
In other categories, Greg Nikkel won second for "Best Agricultural" series of stories. The judges said that the entry from Weyburn shows the good job Nikkel does in covering agricultural topics on week-to-week basis.
Greg Nikkel also won third place for Photographer of the Year. The judges said that Nikkel showed creativity with the photographer taking time to use a tripod for time exposures to get a different shot of fireworks and lightning.
The Weyburn Review placed fourth in best health/healthcare coverage series of stories, written by both Greg Nikkel and Sabrina Kraft.
