Silver medal for WJH cheerleaders

The Weyburn Junior High Cobras Cheer Team gather with their silver medals, which they won at the 2014 Scholastic provincial championships. The squad of 24 athletes have worked hard to learn dances, cheers, tumbling, jumps and stunts since September.

The Weyburn Junior High Cobras Cheer Team gather with their silver medals, which they won at the 2014 Scholastic provincial championships. The squad of 24 athletes have worked hard to learn dances, cheers, tumbling, jumps and stunts since September. In the back row, from left are Tyra Sandiford, Payton Werewka, Sam Loreth, Emma Von Hagen, Kate Gibbs, Bailey Forseth and Jackie Swenson. In the middle row, from left are Ensley Akins, Madison Hillstead, Hannah Cole, Taylor Tiegen, Braeya Wotherspoon, Tara Franklin, Skylar Coderre, Sara Franklin and Brynna Spence. In the front row, from left are Ashlynn Colbow, Stephanie Butz, Kindle Mclenaghan, Jade Kiraly, Chloe Gill and Laurae Rossow. They compile these skills into a two-and-a-half minute routine and compete against teams of similar age and skill level. Previous to provincials, they travelled to Regina in February to compete at the Campbell Ice Breaker Cheerleading Competition and received third prize.
