Grade 12 students Whitney Verot, Callahan Huebner, Whitney Thorp and Shelby Van De Woestyne watch the steel ball bearing as Verot drops it into the start of their rollercoaster, to watch if their design can successfully handle the bearing all the way to the bottom. This is a major project in Physics 30, in which the students have to measure and make 15 calculations, including the potential energy and kinetic energy of the ball bearing, and determine how much energy is lost through friction.
