Weyburn police charge a man for cocaine trafficking

A traffic stop was conducted by the Weyburn Police Service as a result of a vehicle being operated without valid registration. It was subsequently determined that the driver also had a warrant for his arrest and was arrested.

It was subsequently determined that the driver also had a warrant for his arrest and was arrested. As a result of the arrest further investigation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine as well as a significant amount of cash. A 32-year-old male has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. The vehicle was also seized. He has been released from custody and will be making a court appearance. Further investigation into the drug activity is ongoing.

A report from a local financial institution was received regarding a possible fraud involving an account at the financial institution. As a result of the investigation a 48-year-old female has been charged for fraud less than $5,000.

The city police received a report of a possible case of identity theft. The victim received a telephone call purporting to be from a bank and asking for various personal information.

The Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of a telephone scam wherein the victim was contacted by phone saying that she had won a substantial amount of money and asking her to send a small fee to collect the prize. The police wish to stress that in Canada it is unlawful to collect any fee in order to claim a prize. In this case the victim became wise to the scam very quickly and did not suffer any loss.

The Weyburn police received a concern for the well-being of a 24-year-old male who had not shown up for work. The person was quickly located and was well.

The police responded to a 911 call from a residence. Upon attending police found a 41-year-old male and a 46-year-old female each with minor injuries. It was subsequently determined that the injuries were sustained as a result of a domestic dispute. Neither person wished charges to be laid against the other.

One of the people agreed to leave the residence for the night.

City police are investigating a suspicious minor vehicle collision where the vehicle was abandoned at the scene, and the driver had fled on foot.

Police responded to a request to check on the wellbeing of a 45-year-old female person. A check was conducted and the person found to be fine.

Police were requested to assist with the execution of an apprehension warrant issued under the Mental Health Act. The person was apprehended without incident and transported to be examined.

Police conducted a traffic stop. As a result a 21-year-old male was charged for operating an unregistered vehicle and driving without a licence. The vehicle was impounded.

Police responded to a call for assistance at a residence where a female person had been assaulted. A 43-year-old male was arrested at the scene and has been charged with assault and breaching conditions. He will be making a court appearance.
