Weyburn weather cooler, drier in month of March

Weyburn's weather in March was cooler and drier than the long-term average, according to statistics provided by Statistics Canada from their weather station at North Weyburn.
The average high temperature in Weyburn was -3.1, cooler than the long-term average of 1 degree above zero.

The average low temperature was -13.5, which is cooler than the long-term average of -9.3, and the overall average or mean temperature in March was -8.3, compared to the long-term average of -4.1.

The warmest temperature in March this year was 13.1 degrees recorded on Mar. 29, far short of the record of 23.3 degrees.

The coldest temperature in March was -38.7, set on Mar. 1, which was not far off the record cold temperature of -41.1.

For precipitation, Weyburn had 9.8 mm, with the long-term average at 20.3 mm of rainfall equivalent.

The record for rainfall in one day is 15.2 mm, and for snowfall in one day is 26.2 cm, with the record for snow depth at 68 cm.

Weyburn usually receives a total of 150.4 hours of bright sunshine in March.

As for wind conditions, the average wind speed in March is 16.1 km an hour from the southeast, and the maximum hourly speed is 66 km/h from the northeast.

The weather station recorded wind gusts in March, with the strongest gust recorded at 85 km/h on Mar. 28. There were 10 days in March when wind gusts were under 31 km an hour.
