A plaque and a memorial bench, dedicated to Thomas Clement Douglas, is unveiled at a special ceremony held near Douglas' birthplace at Falkirk, Scotland, in October. From left to right are Senator Dan Hayes, Abbi Holden, Corrie Stewart and Jim Johnston, Provost or municipal head of Falkirk. The plaque was donated by the Camelon Local History Group, and the bench, bearing the national motifs of the saltire and maple leaf of Scotland and Canada, was made by a local young offenders institution. The two girls attend Carmuirs Primary School in Camelon, the same school Douglas attended until his family emigrated to Canada.
