Jean Freeman, the keynote speaker during Tommy Douglas Day in Weyburn, reflects on the accomplishments of Douglas at the statue created by internationally-renowned sculptor Lea Vivot, along with Wendy Sidloski and Leslie Richards, board members of the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre board. Tommy Douglas Day was held at the Tommy Douglas Centre on Sunday. There were a number of performances during Tommy Douglas Day, including Freeman reading "Love Letters" to Weyburn, as the well-known actress grew up in Weyburn and started her life-long friendship with Shirley Douglas, Tommy Douglas' daughter, during her schooling at Assiniboia Elementary School.
