The best performances from the Weyburn Rotary Music Festival were recognized at the Stars of the Festival on Wednesday evening in the Cugnet Centre, and scholarships and awards were presented along with featured performances by music students throughout the evening.

The evening was opened by the Weyburn Comp senior concert band, which was presented with the Prairie Sky Co-operative Association award for best performance by a band. The award consisted of a $300 prize and a trophy.

The Weyburn Music Festival trophies for best vocal 12 and under were presented to Donald Alexander, Keira Mahnke and Lindsay Van De Weyer.

The Weyburn Music Festival trophies for piano were presented to Karis Gerle, Addison Greve and Tori Mahnke, and the festival trophies for instrumental were presented to Lindsay Van De Weyer and Sidney Sidloski.

Weimer’s Hometown presented one award in each category, with a $75 award for vocal performance presented to Taylor Cameron; a $50 award for piano presented to Morgan Sidloski, and a $75 award for instrumental going to Max Hiske, who was recommended to advance to the provincial level for his performance on the xylophone.

The MC Music Craft trophies for piano performance of a Canadian piece, for 12 and under, went to Lindsay Van De Weyer and Amora Sonnenberg.

The MC Music Craft award of $50 for a piano duet went to Sidney and Mason Sidloski.

The St. Michael School Community Council award for instrumental went to Lindsay Van De Weyer, and the group of Brayden Wegner, Karissa Vilcu, Parker Mantei, Thea Gregory and Jamie Labbie.

The Jerry Mainil Ltd. vocal award of $400 went to Mikaila Mahnke, who was recommended to advance on to provincials.

The Weyburn Credit Union awarded a $75 prize for piano to Lindsay Van De Weyer, and a $50 prize to Sidney Sidloski, along with a $125 prize for vocals to Jayda Cameron.

The Weyburn Elementary Schools Community Council vocal award of $25 and a trophy went to the Assiniboia Park School Grades 1/2 class.

The TRG Bookkeeping trophies for piano went to Keira Mahnke, Mia Periard, Reegan Chicoine and Nya LaMontagne.

The Stewart Steel award of $300 for vocal went to Ross Van De Weyer.

The Barber Motors vocal award of $250 was presented to Lindsay Van De Weyer.

The Bruce Robinson Memorial Award for piano, consisting of a $100 award and a trophy, was presented to Faith Bratrud.

The YF Wives award of $100 and a shield for vocals was presented to the Assiniboia Park School Grades 3 and 3-4 class.

The Weyburn Security vocal award of $300 was presented to Ross Van De Weyer, the multidisciplinary award of $150 went to Max Hiske, and the piano award for $300 also went to Max Hiske.

The Weyburn Young Fellows Club award for instrumental was presented to Bridget Alexander for her violin performance, and she will advance to the provincial level.

The Royal Canadian Legion award of $75 and a trophy for band went to the Weyburn Comp Junior Jazz Band.

The Shirley Bartlett Memorial award for vocals, a $200 prize and trophy, went to the Weyburn Comp STARS Show Choir.

The Order of the Eastern Star award of $50 each, for a piano duet, went to Lana Hamel and Lindsay Van De Weyer.

The Weyburn Arts Council awards for piano, consisting of $75 each, went to Caroline Manning and Taekyun Lim.

The Weyburn Auto Dealers award of $250 and a shield, for instrumental performance, went to the Assiniboia Park Grades 5-6 and 6 recorder ensemble.

The Knights of Columbus award of $50 for vocals went to Emma Wiens, and their award of $225 and trophy for woodwinds went to Ross Van De Weyer.

The Western Financial Group trophies for piano, 12 and under, went to Emily Alexander and Camryn Greve, and their award of $50 for instrumental went to Sidney Sidloski.

The Arleigh Pulfer Memorial Award of $100 and a trophy, for piano, went to Khloe Bedore.

The Mary Johnston Memorial award of $125 and a trophy, for vocals, went to Donald Alexander.

The Orpheus Club trophy for a folk song vocal went to Tori Mahnke.

The Margaret Cugnet award of $100 each, for a piano duet, went to Max Hiske and Ross Van De Weyer.

The Quota International award of $100 for brass went to Ruslan Edgerton, and of $50 each for individual speech went to Arliss Sidloski and Mason Sidloski.

The Andrew Agencies award of $100 each, for piano, went to Ross Van De Weyer and Max Hiske.

The Holy Family School Division award of $125 for a vocal ensemble went to the group of Olivia Barber, Kate Gibbs and Tylan Charlton.

The Weyburn Community Involvement award of $100 for instrumental went to Autumn Alexander for her flute performance, and she will advance on to provincials.

The Alexandria Rebekah Lodge award of $100 each for musical theatre went to Breane McCormick and Jillian Harder.

The Beta Sigma Phi XiXi Chapter award of $100 went to Bridget Alexander, who will advance to the provincial level.

The Rotary Club Library award of $200 for vocals went to Tori Mahnke, and the Rotary’s Alex Findlay Memorial Award of $600 for piano went to Ross Van De Weyer, who will advance to the provincial level.

The Southeast Cornerstone School Division’s awards of $100 each for instrumental went to Max Hiske, the St. Michael School Jazz Band and the Weyburn Comp Senior Jazz Band.

The SE Cornerstone awards of $100 each for vocals went to the Assiniboia Park Grades 1, 1-2 and 2 choir, and the Weyburn Comp Senior Choir.
