The Crocus 80 Theatre company will be doing a casting call on Saturday, Aug. 31, for a Christmas production to be done in honour of past longtime member Neal Keefe.

Director Carol Reeve has put out a casting call for the play, “If It’s Monday, This Must Be Christmas!”, with the cast needing five men and six women, plus a number of people needed for behind-the-scenes.

The cast audition will be on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Tommy Douglas Centre, with performances slated for Dec. 12-14 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.

This is another Harry Monday play, a series which was a particular favourite of Neal’s.

“It is our goal to produce the funniest Monday to date in tribute to Neal, and all he has done for community theatre,” said the casting call from Crocus 80.

The comedy tells the story of down-and-out gumshoe Harry Monday, who is short of cash as usual, and is down to dog-walking to earn money when a department store is robbed of their payroll.

Reeve is asking if anyone has been in a past production of the Monday plays to consider being a part of this play, and if someone would like to audition for the first time, they are also encouraged to come out.

After the auditions, Crocus 80 will be holding a screening of the classic comedy, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

As this is a licensed event, the theatre requests that all attendees be over the age of 19. All those who are attending this event can bring their own beverages, as Crocus 80 will not have any for sale.

Also, this is a Crocus 80 membership holder event. For those who need a new membership, it will cost $5 and will count as their 2020 membership. The show will start around 8:30 p.m., depending on how the casting process goes.
