STARS to feature online country concert fundraiser

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, STARS has had to postpone or cancel most of its fundraising events through the spring and summer.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, STARS has had to postpone or cancel most of its fundraising events through the spring and summer. In response, the non-profit, charitable helicopter air ambulance organization will take itsefforts online with Streaming for STARS, a virtual concert and fundraiser on Friday, May 8, to help STARS be there for the next patient in need, including Weyburn’s own Tenille Arts.

“STARS is an integral part of the emergency response system in Western Canada and continues to fly the critically ill and injured during crises such as the pandemic we are currently facing,” said Andrea Robertson, STARS president and CEO. “We want to assure you that our crews remain mission ready at all six bases across three provinces and that your support of Streaming for STARS will directly help Western Canadians who live, work and travel across the Prairies.”

In addition to Arts, scheduled performers for the virtual concert include Brett Kissel, George Canyon, Aaron Pritchett, Gord Bamford, Hunter Brothers, The Washboard Union, Jess Moskaluke, Aaron Goodvin, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Chris Buck Band, Bobby Wills, Dan Davidson, Rob Watts, Trevor Panczak and more. There will also be scheduled appearances by Ron MacLean, Mark McMorris, Dan Clark, Josh Morrissey, Kim Coates and STARS team members. 

"We'll all be there because STARS needs our help,” said CCMA and JUNO Awards winner Jess Moskaluke. “In these uncertain times, there is one thing for certain, and that is STARS is always standing by at the ready, waiting for the next patient who needs them.”

“I'd also like to thank the numerous wonderful people that are coming together on May 8 for a night of fantastic entertainment, as well as the Jim Pattison Broadcasting Group for airing this on their radio stations,” said Robertson. “One hundred per cent of proceeds raised will support STARS’ life-saving operations at each of our six bases.”

Streaming for STARS will be held on May 8, starting at 7 p.m. MST / 8 p.m. CST. It will be live-streamed on STARS’ Facebook page, online at streamingforstars.caand will be simulcaston Jim Pattison Broadcast Group radio stations.
