For the month of May, the Weyburn Arts Council is challenging residents to transform the sidewalks and trails of Weyburn into an outdoor art gallery.

“We’re excited to introduce the sidewalk chalk art challenge. No artistic ability required; only the desire to brighten someone’s day,” said arts council curator Regan Lanning.

The first step is for residents of all ages to create their own sidewalk chalk art anywhere they would like to brighten their neighbourhood. Lanning added, “We’d love to see the entire downtown core chalked up.”

Once your creation is done, take a photo of the work and post it to the Weyburn Arts Council’s Facebook or Instagram pages, or email it to them at weyburnartscouncil@weyburn.ca, and they will share the photos.

Residents are encouraged to explore and see what art creations have been made on sidewalks throughout the city.

Members of the arts council will be sharing tutorial videos and tips on their social media pages throughout the month.

The Challenge deadline is Monday, May 31.
