The Grades 10, 11 and 12 students of Choir at the Weyburn Comp practice the song, “I’m Into Something Good”, including some choreographed dance moves, as they rehearsed for their performance at Communithon on Friday, Oct. 25. The choir is directed by Holly Butz, and the group will be part of the lineup of school performances throughout the morning and afternoon at the Weyburn Legion Hall, helping the Communithon raise money for 11 community agencies.

The committee is calling all businesses and organizations to join the Community Business and Service Club Challenge to boost the donations and fun at the Communithon. They are being asked to provide 10 minutes of entertainment during the evening events, such as a song, skit, or whatever your group comes up with.

Join the challenge by completing the online application to entertain at www.communithon.

The Weyburn Communithon committee is also looking for creative posters that will promote this year’s Communithon, and the 11 community agencies that will be supported during this year’s fundraiser. This poster initiative is a great first school project of the year for teachers, and the Communithon committee encourages elementary, junior high and senior high school students to design their own posters to promote the Communithon. Posters will be displayed in the Legion the day of the Communithon, and the committee hopes to hang up extras in any downtown businesses that might be interested.

The committee is promoting the theme of ‘Blast from the Past’, and encourage any Communithon posters to promote this annual fundraiser going back to their roots in the downtown core. Posters can also promote any of the 2019 community agencies, which include: Big Brothers Big Sisters Weyburn, Canadian Mental Health Association, Canadian Red Cross, Community Low Income Centre, CNIB Foundation, Envision Counselling and Support Centre, Inclusion Weyburn, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, Weyburn Care-a-Van, Weyburn Special Care Home Auxiliary, Weyburn Youth Centre.

Poster pick-up from schools or businesses can be arranged by emailing communithoncommittee@sasktel.net
