Dead Levee

The second annual Concert Jam is only weeks away. Hosted by Weyburn and District United Way, the community concert event is scheduled to have seven bands performing throughout the day. These musicians will gather from a variety of different places in the province and each has their own story.

Dead Levee is a five piece band who plays Roadhouse Blues and Classic Rock. Their songs are primarily originals with lyrics and sheet music written by them.

Ryan Klapatiuk(Lead guitar), Preston Laschuk(Drums), Parker Cochrane(Bass), Rylan Dusyk(Rhythm and slide guitar), and local Dane Van Hagen(Vocals) became Dead Levee in December of 2017 and they’ve already produced their first album, Dead Levee, which came out in June of this year.

Dane Van Hagen grew up in Weyburn and previously was in the local band, Private Drive.  He is excited to perform back home for his friends and family as this is the first time the band will be performing here.

Their more notable accomplishments are completing a month long tour across Alberta. The group would play four to seven times a week in bars and on the strip. As well, their album is available on iTunes and Spotify. They’ve also started recording their second album with Studio 1 in Regina. That is hesitantly schedule to be ready in the early new year.

Van Hagen makes a note to mention that their performance will include stage tricks, but to find out what kind, you’ll have to attend the Concert Jam.

The Concert Jam is Saturday,August 25th at the Cugnet Centre from 1 - 10 p.m. Advance tickets cost $20, otherwise it's $30 at the door. Tickets are available at Music Craft, Old Fashioned Foods or Weyburn Review/Weyburn This Week.
