Weyburn’s own “Private Drive” recently won Jack 94.5’s Battle of the Cover Bands in Regina.
“Private Drive” includes Dane Van Hagen on vocals and rhythm guitar, Josiah Haupstein on vocals and lead guitar, Brady Kwochka on vocals and bass guitar, and Mike Van Betuw on drums.
They were up against nine other bands in the competition. In the first week, “Private Drive” lost in the first week by half-a-point to a great band called “Dark Hall Five”.
After the first week loss “Private Drive” competed in the wild card position which was a week after their first performance. They ended up winning the wild card which put them in position to play in the final against three other bands.
“We were all very excited to play in the final and compete against some really unique and talented bands,” said Kwochka.
“The night ended up going in our favour and we came up being the winners. We won $1,000, $500 to B Sharp music, and an opportunity to play at the Conexus Arts Centre for Jack FM’s Big Party 4.”
Kwochka said that the band had tremendous support from their friends and family.
“The crowd response was amazing and each one of us greatly appreciated it.”
