Chamber to host President’s luncheon, cannabis info

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce will have a busy spring with three major events coming up, including the President’s Luncheon and annual general meeting on Tuesday, March 27.

The luncheon will feature Mayor Marcel Roy of the City of Weyburn, and Reeve Carmen Sterling of the RM of Weyburn, as the keynote speakers.

The luncheon will cost $20 and will be held at the Weyburn Legion Hall from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tickets can be bought in advance by going online to www.weyburnchamber.com, or by calling the Chamber office.

The Chamber will be presenting a workshop on the impact of the coming legalization of marijuana, by outlining the risks and challenges to business owners.

The Cannabis in the Workplace workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 4, at Southeast College, in Room 201.

The cost for the workshop, which will run from 9 a.m. to noon, is $60 for Chamber members and $120 for non-members.

The Chamber’s awards for business excellence will be presented at the WEYBEX Awards gala on Friday, May 11, at McKenna Hall.

The deadline to nominate businesses in any of the five categories is Wednesday, April 11. Nomination forms are available at www.weyburnchamber.com or by calling the office for a copy.

The award categories include Business Leader of the Year, Golden Service Award, Community Involvement Award, the New or Expanded Business Award, and the Business Hall of Fame.
