Credit Union marks birthday with multiple grants

Representatives of several community groups and organizations gathered on stage after receiving grants from the Weyburn Credit Union, announced at their 75th anniversary barbecue and dance on Friday evening in the Curling Rink.

Representatives of several community groups and organizations gathered on stage after receiving grants from the Weyburn Credit Union, announced at their 75th anniversary barbecue and dance on Friday evening in the Curling Rink. A total of over $85,000 was handed out at the event. Broken down, they included $15,000 to the Royal Canadian Legion; $1,700 to Inclusion Weyburn; $10,000 to St. Michael School; $7,500 for the Lang Community Centre; $5,550 to the Weyburn Genealogy Society; $5,000 to the Weyburn Ag Society; $7,000 to the Weyburn Co-operative Playschool; $3,000 to the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop; $7,500 to the Weyburn Wrestling Club; $5,000 to the Weyburn Beavers; $7,000 to the Weyburn Wildlife Federation; and $10,000 to the Weyburn Cheer Coaches Association. To further mark the anniversary, each group received an additional $75, plus a pie-throwing fundraiser brought in $2,300 for the Wor-Kin Shop's new vehicle fund, with Ron Fellner receiving the most votes to be pied.
