There will be performances by local bands Switch and The 7th Avenue, there will be bouncy houses, and a scavenger hunt with prizes.

The event will include food vendors and arts, crafts and other goods for sale, and residents are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs to enjoy the afternoon.

Entry to Trails Day is free, and in the case of rain, the venue will move to the Tom Zandee Sports Arena.

The annual household hazardous waste day is also on June 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Public Works roundhouse off 16th Street.

This annual collection of hazardous waste includes an extensive list of items, plus the SARCAN depot will be open to accept paint and electronics only.

The list of items which will be accepted by the city include adhesives, aerosols (such as hair spray and bug spray), car batteries and antifreeze, batteries (such as Ni-cad, lithium, alkali, auto, dry cell and lead acid), household cleaners, fuels (such as gas, diesel, kerosene, lamp oil, oil-gas mixtures), mercury thermostats and thermometers, oxidizers (such as chlorine, bleach, peroxide, septic tank chemicals), poisons (such as herbicides, rat poison, weed killer), expired prescription medication, propane cylinders, and solvents, such as paint thinner, acetone, varsol, alcohol or benzene.

Residents should not bring items that are already accepted for recycling, such as paint, electronics or used oil; biological, infectious or radioactive waste; or explosives or ammunition.
