The Saskatchewan Child Exploitation Unit has charged a resident from the United States with two child pornography offences as the result of a seizure by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

On January 31, CBSA officers conducted an examination on a traveller at the Oungre border crossing, which resulted in the discovery of suspected child pornography on their electronic devices.

The man was arrested and turned over to the Weyburn RCMP. The ICE Unit confirmed the suspect images as child pornography and seized 10 electronic devices for further forensic analysis.

Michael Garland Crawford, age 47, of Williston, North Dakota, has been charged with possession of child pornography, and importation of child pornography, and he was sentenced to one year in jail for the possession charge. Crawford was remanded into custody and appeared in Weyburn Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.
