CheckStops held

Members of the Weyburn Police Service held a series of CheckStops on Saturday evening, including at this location on Government Road at Prairie Avenue, at the entrance to the Weyburn fair grounds.

Police were able to pull over around 50 motorists at this CheckStop and 30 at a second location, with three mandatory roadside breath tests  conducted and several warnings  given out for failing to produce driver’s licence and registration at this stop. The second CheckStop resulted in one roadside suspension, and several warnings  issued for various other minor offences.

One of the main purposes of the CheckStop was to provide high visibility in the community for the city police.

They mainly were checking for impaired drivers, but also for suspended licences or outdated registrations, and any equipment violations they may have observed.

At the time of this CheckStop, the Drive-In Movie fundraiser was being held on the fair grounds.
