Police charge several students in fight incident

The Weyburn Police Service attended to a fight in progress involving numerous high school students on Thursday. Two individuals were apprehended at the scene and both charged for fighting under the bylaw.

The Weyburn Police Service attended to a fight in progress involving numerous high school students on Thursday. Two individuals were apprehended at the scene and both charged for fighting under the bylaw. Further investigation has resulted in 10 individuals being charged under the bylaw with either participating or encouraging fighting. One other individual has been charged with common assault and further charges are anticipated. The matter remains under investigation.

Weyburn police received a complaint on Thursday of a historical sexual assault that had occurred in Weyburn a number of years ago. The investigation is ongoing.

City police received a complaint of a fraud on Friday, after the complainant received a call advising that his credit card had been mistakenly overcharged and they would need some information. No money was stolen and the matter remains under investigation.

City police received a complaint of mischief after a window had been broken on a parked travel trailer on May 7. The matter remains under investigation.

City police attended to a report of a break-and-enter to a garage on Saturday. The incident remains under investigation.

Weyburn police received a complaint on May 5 of an individual who was being harassed. The victim advised police that another individual has been contacting them and was seen outside the residence.  Police are continuing to investigate.

City police attended a local residence regarding a report of a domestic disturbance on May 5. Upon arrival police located an individual in the residence who had been causing the problems, and who was visibly intoxicated. The individual was arrested for breach of the peace and they were lodged in cells and held until sober. No charges were laid.

Weyburn police received a call of a theft on May 6. The investigation determined that no charges were appropriate, though the item that was taken was returned to the owner.

The Weyburn Police Service attended to a call of a motor vehicle accident on Friday where the other driver had failed to remain. While police were present, the other driver returned and those involved exchanged the relevant information. No charges were laid.

Weyburn police attended to a local residence for a report of a break and enter on Saturday that happened sometime earlier in the week. The matter remains under investigation.
