Police investigate several break-and-enters

Police members responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on the east side of the city on Sept. 18. Police arrived a short time later and found that one of the parties had already left the residence.

Police arrived a short time later and found that one of the parties had already left the residence. Police left and were called back to the residence when the individual returned. Police re-attended and an 18-year-old male was arrested for breach of the peace and was later released when sober.
City police attended to an attempted break and enter to a business in the east side of Weyburn on Sept. 19, after the owner noticed damage to an exterior door. Entrance was not gained and nothing was reported stolen. The incident remains under investigation.
Police were dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the 200 block of Eighth Street NE on Sept. 19. On arrival police found the vehicle had hit a tree. The 49-year-old female driver was taken to hospital for treatment. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident and the investigation into the accident continues.
City police received a complaint of a theft of a trailer from a local business on Sept. 19. The trailer is described as a Precision trailer, black in colour, with Saskatchewan license 191KHY. It is believed the trailer was stolen sometime around Sept.15. The incident remains under investigation.
Police received a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Seventh Street and Railway Avenue, after one vehicle rear-ended a vehicle that had stopped at the intersection on Sept. 19. The driver who was stopped at the intersection reported minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Police received a complaint of a fraud on Wednesday after the victim answered an ad on Kijiji where a company would pay if ads were put on their vehicle. The complainant received a cheque which was to be cashed and the victim was to keep their share and return the rest of the money to the company. The victim felt this was a fraud and reported it to police immediately. No financial loss was incurred by the victim. The fraud remains under investigation.
Police received a complaint of a potential fraud after an individual attended a local business and attempted to solicit funds for Special Olympics on Thursday. The solicitation of funds by this individual, was not an authorized fundraising event by Special Olympics. Police have a person of interest identified and the investigation is ongoing. Please contact the Weyburn Police Service if you or your company has been approached in the last few weeks by an individual who is presenting himself as a representative of Special Olympics.
Police attended to a break and enter of a business in the 600 block of Government Road on Friday. Entrance had been gained through a window, and once inside the suspect or suspects ransacked the offices, stealing cash. The incident remains under investigation. Police also attended to a break and enter of a business in the 400 block of Prairie Avenue on Friday. Entrance was gained through a window, and nothing was reported stolen. The incident remains under investigation.
Police attended to a domestic dispute at a residence in the east area of Weyburn on Friday. The subsequent investigation identified allegations of an assault that may have occurred during the course of the argument. The situation was mediated, though the investigation into the alleged assault is ongoing.
While on patrol police observed what appeared to be a number of individuals causing a disturbance in the parking lot of a downtown bar on Friday. Police responded and during the course of the investigation a 43-year-old male was arrested and charged for being drunk in public. This individual was lodged in cells and later released when sober. During the course of this investigation another individual was identified as being involved in an assault. The 36-year-old male was arrested and charged with assault. He was also lodged in cells and later released with a court date in October.
Police received a report of a fraudulent use of a credit card on Saturday after the victim was advised of unusual activity on his credit card. The victim found that their vehicle had been broken into and a wallet stolen and a credit card was being used at a local business. The incident remains under investigation.
While on patrol police located a very intoxicated individual walking on the street in the downtown area on Saturday. The 31-year-old male was arrested for being drunk in public and lodged in cells. He was later released when sober.
