Police lay charges in pedestrian accident

The Weyburn Police Service, EMS and Weyburn Fire Department were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of Coteau Avenue and 13 th Street on Sunday.

The Weyburn Police Service, EMS and Weyburn Fire Department were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of Coteau Avenue and 13th Street on Sunday. An east-bound vehicle failed to stop for a six-year-old child who was crossing the street and struck the child. The driver failed to remain at the scene of the accident.

The child was taken to the Weyburn General Hospital and then later transferred to Regina with what is described as non-life threatening injuries. The driver was located by witnesses and pointed out to police.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 20-year-old female, was subsequently charged with failing to remain and issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian. The accused was released from custody for a later court date.
