A 28-year-old male was arrested by the RCMP on Sunday after series of events took place near Creelman, and faces 19 charges relating to thefts and drug possession.

Fillmore RCMP were first notified of a theft in progress in Creelman around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. A witness caught the male suspect attempting to steal fuel from a business.

Patrols were made in the area, however the suspect vehicle was not located. Witnesses later saw the vehicle in an abandoned farmyard near Creelman and called police back to the area. The suspect was intercepted near Highway 13 south of Creelman, but fled from police.

Police were not able to continue in the attempt to stop the vehicle due to the high speed and erratic driving behaviour of the suspect vehicle. The suspect had entered a number of farmers’ fields and drove through fences causing property damage.

Additional witnesses and property owners noted that the suspect vehicle had become disabled and that the suspect had fled into an oil field structure. Members of the Fillmore, Weyburn and Radville RCMP detachments, along with the RCMP police dog service, were dispatched to the area. The male suspect was eventually located and arrested without incident.

Police located a quantity of stolen property, firearms, and illegal drugs in the suspect's possession.

Andrew Bender is facing numerous charges including flight from police; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; possession of stolen property; theft; possession of weapons obtained by crime; possession of drugs; failing to comply with probation; and resisting arrest.

He is currently charged with 19 criminal offences. The investigation into further stolen property and criminal activity is continuing. Bender appeared in Weyburn Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.
