Weyburn police arrest person on a warrant, drug possession

The Weyburn Police Service dealt with 97 calls for service for the week of May 25 to June 1, and issued a total of seven Criminal Code charges and three Provincial tickets. Weyburn police arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant on Saturday.

The Weyburn Police Service dealt with 97 calls for service for the week of May 25 to June 1, and issued a total of seven Criminal Code charges and three Provincial tickets.

Weyburn police arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant on Saturday. Because of the arrest and being taken into custody, the individual was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine and was charged accordingly.

Weyburn police received a complaint regarding a stolen vehicle license plate on May 25. Should anyone see a vehicle with Saskatchewan license 876 JCR, they are asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service at 306-848-3250. 


City police received a report of a person observed to be laying on the highway east of the City on Wednesday. Due to the emergent nature of the incident, the Weyburn police responded and located an individual in fact laying on the highway. The person agreed to seek further examination at the Weyburn General Hospital and was provided with a ride. 


Police received a report of shoplifting from a downtown business on Wednesday. The matter is still under investigation. 


City police conducted a court-order compliance check on an individual on May 25. As a result of the check, the person was found to not be in compliance with the court order and has been charged with breaching that order. 


Weyburn police received a complaint that a person who is the subject of court-ordered restrictions was in violation of those restrictions on May 26. Upon investigating, the police determined that the person was in fact in violation of ‘non-contact’ provisions and has been charged accordingly.

Weyburn police conducted a compliance check in relation to a court order on Wednesday. The person was found to be in violation and has been charged for Breach of the court order. 


City police received a complaint regarding a possible impaired driver on Thursday. The vehicle was located and the driver was found to not be impaired. The driving action reported was apparently due to driver fatigue and the excessive wind blowing the vehicle around on the highway. Even though this case turned out to not be someone impaired, the police thanked the caller, and all who would call in a similar circumstance. 


City police conducted a compliance check on an individual subject to court-ordered conditions on Thursday. The individual was found to be in violation of those conditions and has been charged with a breach of the court order. 


Weyburn police received a request to conduct a well-being check on an individual believed to be threatening self-harm on Friday. The person was located and after discussion, no further action was required.

City police received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked on a street on Saturday. The vehicle was located, and while dealing with the complaint it was determined that both occupants were consuming cannabis unlawfully and were each issued a ticket.

Meantime, the Saskatchewan RCMP reported that from May 22 to 28, inclusive, there were 62 calls for service related to COVID-19, including 13 complaints of large gatherings of over 10 people; three complaints of people failing to self-isolate when allegedly required to do so; and 46 other COVID-19 related complaints. No charges were laid.

The Public Health Order is still in place and the RCMP will continue to work closely with Saskatchewan Health Authorities to investigate any potential violations of the order.
