Weyburn police attend accident caused by slippery roads

Weyburn police were dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle collision with injuries on Sunday. The investigation revealed that one vehicle was exiting a business parking lot onto Government Road and tried to stop resulting in sliding towards oncoming traffic.

A vehicle southbound on Government Road, seeing the vehicle encroaching into the traffic lane, attempted to turn into the business lot. However, due to very slippery road conditions, neither vehicle was able to navigate effectively resulting in the collision. A child was transported to the local hospital with unknown injuries, but they were believed to be non-life threatening.

City police, while investigating another matter, conducted a vehicle stop on Sunday. As a result, a male was arrested for numerous breach-of-release charges as well as for possession of methamphetamine. The accused was also implicated in another file and was charged for those offences as well. The accused was released pending further court appearances.

The Weyburn police received a call regarding a domestic dispute with violence on Jan. 6. Upon attending and determining what had occurred, an adult male was arrested. The accused is facing a charge of assault and will be making a court appearance.

Police received a call regarding a break-and-enter to a residence on Wednesday. The matter is still under investigation.

City police were advised of a sexual assault on Jan. 6. The matter is under investigation. Police believe this to be an isolated incident.

Weyburn police received a report of the theft of a wallet on Wednesday. Subsequent to that report, some of the credit cards were fraudulently used. In an unrelated investigation a few days later, it was determined who was responsible for the theft and fraudulent use, and that person is now facing charges.

Weyburn police received a report that an individual was openly threatening to commit suicide on Jan. 6. The police were able to locate the person and escorted the person to the hospital for assessment.

Police received a call from a business regarding an unruly customer on Jan. 7. The matter was resolved with police assistance.

City police received more than one call on Jan. 7 regarding a family dispute matter where family members were threatening to harm other family members. The matter was successfully mediated for the time being.

Weyburn police received a call regarding a person believed to be sleeping in a vehicle on Friday. Upon locating the vehicle it was determined that the person was in care and control of the vehicle and was suspected to be under the influence of drugs. The driver failed a Field Sobriety Test and subsequently arrested where a Drug Recognition Evaluation was conducted by a DRE Expert. The driver was subsequently issued a three-day licence suspension.

City police received a report of a missing person on Friday. The adult person eventually showed up at their residence.
