Weyburn police help talk male off building ledge

Weyburn police received a call of a male in mental distress who was out on the roof on a ledge of a building in the downtown core area on Oct. 2. Members attended to the location and after a short period of time they were able to talk the male off the ledge of the building without incident or injury to the male. After the incident, the male was taken by officers to get medical attention.

Weyburn police had a complainant come into the office on Oct. 2 to report that a male who was ordered not to have contact with him was breaching his conditions by contacting him. The male was arrested and charged for breaching his undertaking and failing to comply with it.

Weyburn police were on patrol and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Thursday. One of the passengers in the vehicle, who is known to police, was found to be in breach of his undertaking to follow a curfew. The male was arrested and charged for breaching his curfew.

Members dealing with the same traffic stop had a second male passenger give them a false name. After further investigation by police, it was found out that this person was also in breach of his undertaking to follow a curfew, and this male was charged accordingly.

Weyburn police received a complaint from a local business of an internal theft on Thursday. After further investigation by police, who looked at video from the business, they were able to arrest and charge a female employee with theft under $5,000.

Weyburn police received a call from a citizen about two aggressive dogs off their leashes and on the loose on Saturday. A member attended and the two dogs were caught and taken to the Weyburn Humane Society. The owner of the dogs was charged accordingly under the bylaw for allowing dogs to run at large.

Weyburn police received a call from an anonymous caller on Saturday about a female who was drinking alcohol who was under conditions not to be consuming alcohol. Police attended to the residence of the person and found her to be intoxicated. The female was then charged for breaching her undertaking not to be consuming alcohol.

Weyburn police received a 911 call on Sunday from a female who was scared of her boyfriend. Police attended to the residence to deal with the matter. Police know both individuals, and while investigating the matter, a bladed weapon was located in the residence. The male who lives at this residence is on conditions not to have any weapons in his possession. The male was arrested at the scene and charged with breaching his conditions. The male was held for an appearance in court in Estevan on Monday.

Weyburn police received a call of theft of lights from a yard on Sunday. The complainant stated that the lights were unplugged and three strands of lights were taken off a tree in the yard.
