A second person has died of a drug overdose in Weyburn, with 24 hours of the first incident, while a third person was able to be revived with medical treatment.

During the late evening hours of Jan. 13, officers of the Weyburn Police Service responded to a call reporting an adult male in medical distress on the west edge of the city.

Upon arrival, EMS personnel were found to be administering care to an unconscious male.  The male was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital but unfortunately did not survive.

The matter is being investigated by the RCMP as it occurred just outside the city limits.

City police responded to a call on Jan. 14 around 1 p.m., also on the west side of the city. Fortunately the adult male found unconscious of a suspected drug overdose was revived after being administered Narcan by a responding officer as well as being treated by EMS personnel.

The first incident happened in the early morning hours of Jan. 13 on the east side of the city, and was the first fatal drug overdose.

The Weyburn Police Service offers its condolences to the individuals families and friends.
