Weyburn police investigates B&E to an apartment

Weyburn police are investigating a break-and-enter to an apartment residence in the 300 block of Fourth Street on Wednesday. The matter is still under investigation.

City police attended a three-vehicle collision on First Avenue and 10th Street on Wednesday. The investigation determined that the lead vehicle had stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross the street. The driver of the third vehicle was not paying adequate attention, resulting in the second vehicle being rear-ended which propelled it forward rear-ending the lead vehicle as well. There were no injuries. 

Weyburn police received a report that the rear window of a vehicle had been smashed out while parked at a residence on Third Street South on Thursday. The matter is still under investigation.

City police received a call regarding a two-vehicle collision on Coteau Avenue at Fifth Street on Saturday. It appears that an eastbound vehicle on Coteau Avenue collided with a northbound vehicle on Fifth Street. There were no injuries.

City police received a report on Friday that a fraud scam had occurred where the victim suffered a loss of money. It appears that the call was spoofed from the Weyburn Police Service number in an attempt to legitimize the call. The payment required was in Bitcoin. 

Weyburn police wish to continue to stress that any government payment is by cash, cheque or credit card. Bitcoin is not recognized as legal tender. However, as always be diligent in giving out any information until you are certain who you are dealing with.

Weyburn police received a report of the theft of property from a parked car on Saturday. The incident happened in the 1600 block of Clark Avenue. The matter is still under investigation.

Weyburn police received a report of the theft of a bicycle on Friday. The bike is a green 2014 Haro 118 with 20-inch tires. The back axle has foot pegs. 

City police received a report of a disturbance and a fight in the hallway of an apartment building on Friday. Upon attending it was determined that bear spray was used against the victim. An adult male was arrested at the scene and is now charged with assault with a weapon, and will be making a future court appearance. 

Weyburn police received a report that there was a disturbance at an apartment residence on Saturday. On attending it was determined that one of the people present was on a court-ordered condition not to be in contact with one of the other people at the residence. The person was arrested without incident and is now facing a charge of breach of court order.
