Weyburn police investigates fraud, thefts

Weyburn police received a report from an individual on Oct. 8 who had blank bank cheques stolen, and they were used them to fraudulently obtain funds from the account. This matter is currently under investigation .

Weyburn police received a report from an individual on Oct. 8 who had blank bank cheques stolen, and they were used them to fraudulently obtain funds from the account. This matter is currently under investigation .

Weyburn police are investigating an online fraud involving an individual who paid a large sum of money for an item that was not received.

City police received a call from an individual whose vehicle window was smashed and contents of the vehicle stolen on Wednesday. This matter is also currently under investigation.

Weyburn police received a 911 call from a youth on Oct. 7 reporting an unknown adult was following them with a baseball bat. Officers located both individuals and learned that the youth was at a local school yard and where the adult was practicing batting. The youth’s parent was also spoken to and advised of the situation. 

City police executed a warrant under the Youth Drug Detoxification and Stabilization Act, and transported a youth to the Regina General Hospital for assessment on Oct. 8. The youth was held for treatment.

Officers attended a local residence to assist the resident with an individual who refused to leave on Thursday. The unwelcome individual was found to be in breach of court-ordered conditions, and was arrested and charged accordingly.

Police conducted a traffic stop on Thursday, and found a passenger of the vehicle to be in breach of their conditions and also had outstanding warrants for their arrest. The individual was arrested and charged accordingly.

During a traffic stop on Saturday, a passenger of the vehicle was known to police and determined to be in breach of their conditional sentencing order. The individual was arrested, taken into custody and held for court.

Officers responded to a call to assist a resident with a drunk individual who was causing a disturbance on Saturday. The individual was arrested and lodged in cells until sober.

Weyburn police received a call from a resident on Sunday who reported an individual was out of control inside the residence and assistance was requested. The individual was located, arrested and charged with mischief.
