The Weyburn Police Service received 62 calls for service during the period of Dec. 21-27, with 12 charges being laid through the week.Of the 12 charges, four were Traffic Safety Act violations, seven were Criminal Code charges for failing to attend Court and one was for a Criminal Code charge of theft.
On Dec. 21, city police responded to a single vehicle collision in the city. A vehicle had slid on the icy road surface and struck a fence. The property damage was minor and there were no injuries. No charges resulted from this incident.
Also on the 21st, police responded to a two-vehicle collision. Again there were no injuries and no charges were laid.
Police were called to a domestic dispute between an adult male and adult female. The officers were able to mediate the matter peacefully.
Vandalism to a vehicle was reported on Tuesday. The vehicle had been spray-painted with graffiti while parked outside the owner’s residence. This matter is under investigation.
Several individuals failed to attend court as required and were charged accordingly.
On Wednesday, officers attended to another domestic dispute between an adult male and an adult female. This matter was also mediated peacefully.
WPS received a report of an assault outside a residence between two adult males. Police investigated the matter and determined it was a consensual altercation and neither party wanted to pursue the matter criminally.
Police responded to a disturbance between two adult males. The officers were able to mediate the matter peacefully.
The holiday weekend was relatively quiet with only a few minor matters being reported to police.
