Community Futures (CF) Sunrise is kicking off the new year by offering some important learning sessions for local community leaders. The webinar “Economic Development 101” was offered in November 2020 and received rave reviews, so CF Sunrise decided to offer this 90-minute virtual workshop again in January.

The webinar will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 26, with two options of times – morning or evening. Facilitated by the professionals at EDCD Consulting (edcdconsulting.com), the session topics include the 13 key functions and foundations of local economic development, how leaders can support this within their own communities, and of course an opportunity for attendees to ask questions relevant to their specific situations.

Individuals interested in building a strong economic foundation in their own community are invited to register.

“At our last Economic Development 101 sessions we had a variety of attendees from elected officials and business owners, to individuals who were simply interested in supporting economic development in their community,” commented Andria Brady, Regional Economic Development Coordinator for CF Sunrise.

“We heard from many in the southeast Saskatchewan region that economic development was very important, not only to the businesses but to community members as well”, said Brady. “Giving local leaders the knowledge and tools to assist with growing their communities will help strengthen southeast Saskatchewan, especially as we recover from the pandemic.”

With a mandate to help grow communities and businesses in the region, these sessions will feed into upcoming “Business Retention and Expansion”workshops that CF Sunrise will be hosting in March 2021.
