The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce announces that nominations are now being accepted for the Golden Spike Award.

If you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the community through their leadership, innovation, and volunteer services, please nominate them for the Golden Spike Award.

“The Chamber has been presenting the Golden Spike Award since 1982, and many deserving recipients have received this recognition for their work which helps Weyburn build a strong community,” said Chamber executive director Twila Walkeden.

The most recent recipient of the Golden Spike was Winston Bailey, for 2019.

“We encourage you to think of a person who exemplifies such qualities as leadership and innovation. The award is open to those of all ages and experience and is not limited to those nearing the end of their work career. Each year, we have many excellent nominations to choose from and we look forward to reviewing those nominated in 2021,” added Walkeden.

The award recognizes individuals in five categories, including community involvement (such as volunteer work); leadership, in helping others to learn and grow; professional involvement, such as the effort of an individual to their industry; longevity; and stewardship, which refers to the individual’s commitment to the use management and use of resources.

Nominations are due by Monday, March 22, 2021 and the nomination forms can be picked up at the Chamber office or found online at https://weyburnchamber.com/about-the-chamber/awards.

The winner of the Golden Spike Award will be presented at the President’s Dinner and Annual General Meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
