Women of the Year Nominees

M. ISABELLE BUTTERS QUOTA INTERNATIONAL OF WEYBURN COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
Lianne Cretin

LIANNE CRETIN, nominated by Sheryl Ehman and Donna Berling

If you have been involved in events at the Family Place, the Curling Club, the Gymnastics Club or the Figure Skating Club, chances are you would have seen the friendly face of Lianne Cretin. Quite likely you were approached to become involved and found it hard to not jump on board with her enthusiastic invitation.

Since moving back to Weyburn in 1997, Lianne has been actively involved in a wide range of organizations. She can be found in a leadership role or in the background volunteering her time and talents, doing whatever is needed. She has spent many years with the Family Place. She avidly volunteers at any of the associated fundraising events.

Lianne is an accomplished curler who strives to instill the love of the game in our youth. She has spent countless hours over the years with junior curlers encouraging them to grow in confidence and ability on ice.

Lianne has been involved in Habitat for Humanity where she has completed house builds in Weyburn and El Salvador. She has been active in canvassing for charities in our community.

Lianne’s positive attitude and enthusiasm shine in anything she does. She creates an inviting environment to encourage others to become involved. In Lianne’s words, “Volunteering is the lifeblood of a community. I’ve been fortunate to be able to help out causes that I feel passionate about, particularly children’s well-being and health.”

We think she epitomized this through her willingness to make a difference in our Weyburn community.
