Women of the Year Nominees

M. ISABELLE BUTTERS QUOTA INTERNATIONAL OF WEYBURN COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
Jackie Wilson

JACKIE WILSON, nominated by Inclusion Weyburn Board Members

Jackie started Inclusion Weyburn in 2017 and has been the president of the board since its inception. She has dedicated countless hours to the many programs Inclusion Weyburn offers.

Jackie’s proudest accomplishment has been the creation of the Inclusive Fun in the Sun summer camp in partnership with the City of Weyburn, providing children with intellectual challenges the opportunity to participate in camp with their peers. The inclusive camps are unique to Weyburn and have yet to be developed anywhere else in the province.

Jackie is a catalyst for change in our community by bringing awareness and education about the value and importance of recognizing the contributions of all members of society including those with diverse needs. Jackie emulated the mission statement of Inclusion Weyburn “to ensure that individuals in Weyburn and area who have intellectual disabilities are valued, supported and included members of the community and have opportunities and choices in all aspects of life.”

Beyond Inclusion Weyburn, Jackie serves Weyburn and its community members in a variety of ways. She is an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, a Communithon committee member, a proud grandmother of five grandchildren (with a sixth on the way) and has served as an educator for 33 years before she retired in 2011.

Jackie demonstrates appreciation and respect for everyone she works with. She is always willing to go the extra mile and never takes the credit she deserves. Her accomplishments and character make her a very worthy nominee for this award.
