City of Weyburn to do basal spraying of elm trees

The City of Weyburn Parks Department is performing basal spraying operations to elm trees starting in the northwest corner of the City for the control of Dutch Elm Disease.

The City of Weyburn Parks Department is performing basal spraying operations to elm trees starting in the northwest corner of the City for the control of Dutch Elm Disease.

The area includes Elgin Street, Scott Street, Scott Crescent, First, Second and Third Ave NW and Saskatchewan Drive.

Elm trees from Ninth Street to 13th Street and Bison Avenue to East Avenue will also be treated following the northwest corner of the city.

Affected residents have been individually informed regarding this work.

Operations will be conducted from Tuesday, Sept. 24, through to Thursday, Sept. 26, (weather permitting) between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 p.m., and will halt between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and over the lunch hour when school children may be present.

For the safety of residents, they are asked to avoid workers while they are basal spraying.

Orange flagging tape is being used to indicate which trees have been treated. Children and pets should be kept away from flagged trees for a period of 24 hours.
