Union College recognized Stephanie Pateman of Weyburn with the Rising Star award during their Hall of Fame ceremony on October 26. The college is located in Barbourville, Kentucky.

The Rising Star Award recognizes outstanding young alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years. Honorees were involved on campus while students, preferably in leadership roles, are enjoying career success, and continually give back to their community and Union College.

Pateman left Saskatchewan to attend Union College in Kentucky in 2005. During her time at Union, Pateman was the definition of an active student-athlete. A four-year member of the volleyball team and two year team captain, she still holds a pair of athletic records: the Individual Career Record for Kills in a career (1740), as well as the individual season record for kills (601) in the 2007 season.

Off the court, while completing her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Degree, Pateman was on the Dean’s list from 2007-2009.

She was also involved in a number of co-curricular activities. She was the Homecoming Princess in 2005, and she was the student director of Campus Activities from 2006-2008. She was also Student Government Association President in 2008 and served as Student Associate Trustee as well.

Pateman’s prospect for future success was evident while she was a student, and she was able to complete an internship her final semester in New York City at EMI Music Publishing. She is currently completing her Canadian Certified Financial Planner designation and works as a Financial Security Advisor for Brady Wealth Strategies.
