The milling and paving of Government Road has been postponed until after the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show.

Due to the scope of the project (which includes the closure of Government Road from First Avenue NW to Coteau Avenue) and the importance of the Oil and Gas Show within the community and province, the City feels it is best to allow event organizers and public full access to facilities used for the show.

“A decision was made by administration to postpone the milling and paving of Government Road until later in the construction season, to ensure the public had access to the main entrance of the Weyburn Exhibition Grounds for major upcoming community events,” said city manager Mathew Warren.

“Having the road completed is a priority for the City of Weyburn and administration is working through the logistics to have this completed in a timely manner.”

The Oil and Gas Show will be held from Tuesday, June 4 to Thursday, June 6, and the City will inform the public about the starting dates for construction in subsequent updates.

The City of Weyburn realizes the demand to complete the paving of Government Road, and apologizes for the inconvenience to residents and the public in delaying this phase of the reconstruction project.

Administration will be working with other users groups of exhibition grounds to establish appropriate time frames for the completion of paving. The City appreciates the public’s patience during this time.
