Ground-breaking for new school, culture centre

Mayor Marcel Roy, MLA Dustin Duncan and Cornerstone board chair Audrey Trombley did a ground-breaking in celebration of the construction of Weyburn's new school and Recreation and Culture Centre. The ceremony was held on Friday morning at Jubilee Park next to the construction. Grade 3 students from Haig, Souris and Queen Elizabeth Schools combined into a choir to sing "Heart to Heart" for the ceremony. They will be in the Grade 6 class when the new school opens in September of 2021. The provincial government will spend a total of $33.7 million for the new school, and the City of Weyburn will spend $25 million on the new Recreation and Culture Centre.
