The Southeast has experienced an increased number of positive cases over the past number of weeks. Active cases are not limited to one geographical area suggesting there is a high risk of community spread.

Positive cases have had an impact on students and staff across many schools. Some of these have been diagnosed as Variants of Concern, which are highly transmissible and impacting younger populations.

Neighboring school divisions including Regina Public S.D., Regina Catholic S.D., and Prairie Valley School Division have had, and are having similar experiences with COVID 19 and Variants of Concern. Due to rising positive cases of COVID19, including the Variants of Concern, all schools in HFRCSSD and SECPSD will be moving to Level 4, remote on-line learning following the Easter break, April 12 to April 23 inclusive.

This is a joint decision with Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Board of Education,SECPSD Board of Education, and the Local Medical Health Officers who support the area. At this time, as a collective, we believe that this is the best course of action to reduce the increase spread and isan appropriate response to help ensure school and community safety.

The move to remote learning is one more option in ongoing efforts to control this pandemic's spread. The move to remote learning is in addition to existing public health measures, including limiting your bubble size and content, wearing a mask in public, washing your hands regularly, and staying isolated and getting tested as soon as possible if you're sick.

On April 12th, staff will plan and coordinate schedules and arrange processes for remote learning for launch on April 13th. All staff will be working from school sites, schedules and timetables will be communicated to families by the end of day April 12th. Online classes begin on April 13th. THIS IS MANDATORY LEARNING, not supplementary.

It is hoped that with the Easter break followed by two weeks of remote learning, that when we potentially return to school on April 26th, we will have fewer cases, less transmission and that we will be able to have a successful final two months of face to face learning where we can begin to see a return of our school traditions.
