Access to the Weyburn General Hospital was restricted to the third floor over New Year’s and for the first week of January, due to an influx of influenza cases, and it was declared over as of Jan. 9, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

The SHA issued a statement on Friday explaining what had occurred.

“The outbreak was declared on Dec. 27th due to a number of cases of Influenza A. Initially visiting was restricted until outbreak measures were in full effect and then limited to one-to-one.

“The precautions were in place approximately 12 days on the third floor only. All other services remained operational. The outbreak was declared over on Jan. 9.
