Local artists exhibit to relocate to Weyburn City Hall Gallery

The “Winter in Saskatchewan” multi-artist art exhibit will be moving to the City Hall Gallery, due to the water damage that has affected the operations of Signal Hill Arts Centre.

The “Winter in Saskatchewan” multi-artist art exhibit will be moving to the City Hall Gallery, due to the water damage that has affected the operations of Signal Hill Arts Centre.

The exhibit had been originally set to open in mid-January at Signal Hill, but that facility was closed after a failure of the water sprinkler system on Jan. 10.

The City hall Gallery will be open starting Monday, Feb. 3, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The City Hall Gallery is located on the second floor of City Hall at 157 Third Street, outside council chambers, in the area shown in the photo above.

All exhibitions that were scheduled to take place in 2020 at the Signal Hill Arts Gallery will now be relocated to the City Hall Gallery.

The rescheduled reception date for the “Winter in Saskatchewan” exhibition will be announced soon.

The historic building, which has served as a hospital and a seniors home before becoming the Signal Hill Arts Centre, had been put up for sale as all of the arts programs were going to be moved to the new Weyburn Recreation and Culture Centre currently under construction.

The new facility is being built alongside the new elementary school on Fifth Street, and will house art galleries, classroom spaces, a pottery studio and the offices for arts and culture. The WRCC is set to be open by September of 2021.
