Mayor Marcel Roy spoke to reporters at a news conference at City Hall, as he explained that the council was following the process they have set for discretionary use permits, in regard to a rejection of an application for a personal care home in The Creek subdivision. Council ignited a firestorm of controversy with the decision, with the result that first Coun. Brad Wheeler, then city council as a whole, have issued apologies for what was said, with council stating they will work with Weyburn Group Homes to get a new personal care home in place.
