Travis Patron, the candidate for the Canadian Nationalist Party in the federal election, has pulled out of the candidates forum to be held by the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.

In an email message sent out on Monday, Patron said, “I appreciate the invitation and consideration of our party. However, both the format and type of event will not be productive for our party at this time.”

In part, he placed some of the blame on the type of news coverage that has been provided by mainstream media, particularly in how they have portrayed the party.

“The mainstream media no longer cares to report the truth. The way they have portrayed our party is entirely fabricated and factually incorrect on numerous instances. Events such as this will only give the media additional opportunities to lie about our party and tarnish any opportunity at democratically reforming our country,” said Patron. “It is no longer in our interest to participate in such an event.”
