Grant Crichton started his new lead pastor position at the Life Centre Church of Weyburn on December 9. “This church is a very friendly, family-oriented family-focused, welcoming church.”

“From the first day we came in, my wife, my two boys and myself felt immediately welcomed, loved and part of the family,” said Crichton. “When you walk into this church, you feel like it is a family and you are part of it.”

His family moved from Washington State to Regina, then moved to Weyburn on November 26.

The Life Centre Church used to meet in the APES School. Then the church board decided to move into a new building at 96 17 Street, which was a truck-storage facility, and spent a long time renovating it.

Crichton said that there is so much potential for the building. “We have a long fellowship hall, a nice new kitchen, several unused rooms, a 70s lounge for the youth upstairs, and our service space.”

“One of the things we want to do, once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, is to talk to the community and see what the needs are, and how the space can be used.”

“We can see a pre-school, a daycare, Life Centre diner, and there are so many dreams that we can use this space for,” said Crichton. “Plus, there is so much space in the back, which we can use during the summer time.”

He said that the Life Centre Church wants to be “involved and engaged in the community as much as we can. We want to make a positive difference.”

“The Life Centre Church is more relaxed, more casual, more community oriented

We have a worship team (a band), and we do communion and some prayer.”

With current COVID-19 restrictions, the church is allowed to have small groups attend programs, and a capacity of 30 people for services. “We want to offer programs to people in the community who might need it. This church is a welcoming space.”

He added that a member of the church has their credentials with Crisis Intervention

The Life Centre Church provides Sunday morning services at 10 a.m. They do have programs offered for children. They are following all COVID-19 guidelines for churches right now, which include a capacity of 30 people, social distancing and wearing masks.

The Life Centre Church will have two Christmas Eve services on Wednesday, December 23 at 7 p.m.; and Thursday, December 24 at 4 p.m. Both services are traditional candlelight service, traditional carols, and a family service. Contact the Life Centre Church to pre-register to attend these services.
