Parents, guardians, teachers, staff, stakeholders and community members of St. Michael School were notified of new parking regulations that will come into effect in January.

As part of ongoing efforts to maximize pedestrian safety around the school, the City of Weyburn has made the east side of the 400 block of 13th Street  a “No Parking” zone. This is the entire length of the street directly in front of St. Michael School.

>The change was made by the City of Weyburn and Weyburn City Police to improve student safety after they reviewed traffic around the school during peak hours. They have shared that there needs to be better sight lines for pedestrians, drivers and safety patrol. By prohibiting vehicles from parking on the school side, this will improve the sight lines, thus making it safer for everyone..

Holy Family School Division is working with the City of Weyburn, the City Police  and St. Michael School to form a working committee to further review these changes and partner in future changes with respect to student safety and traffic around St. Michael School.

Initially the City Police will be focusing on ‘awareness and education’ of this new no parking zone, but they plan to start enforcement effective Jan 15th.
