Pangman student breaks nat'l powerlifting records

Pangman (cpd) - Brittany Rowland, a Grade 10 student from Pangman, competed in the national competition for power lifting in Calgary on April 12. She participated in three events and broke three national records.



Pangman (cpd) - Brittany Rowland, a Grade 10 student from Pangman, competed in the national competition for power lifting in Calgary on April 12. She participated in three events and broke three national records. Brittany has qualified for the World competition, which will be in Poland in September.
Brittany broke the national record lifting 313.5 pounds and won a gold medal. She also did the bench press, lifting 115 pounds and the squat, lifting 275 pounds. Brittany trains at the Olympia gym in Weyburn with Ryan Fowler as her coach.

Ryan was the former principal at Pangman School and currently is the vice principal at the Weyburn Junior High. Other team members competing were Patricia Ashworth, Maikayla Lohse, Brandon and Heidi Russell and Ryan Fowler.
The Pangman School Grades 1 and 2, their teacher Sabrina Quigley and helper Allison Kessler walked over to Sunnyview Place on April 25. They dressed in western clothing and read to the residents, and before leaving they performed a line dance.

The Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a Mother's Day tea at Sunnyview Place on Friday, May 11 at 2 p.m. There will be a cake walk and everyone is invited to attend the event.

Kay Kessler, resident of Sunnyview Place, moved to the Weyburn Special Care Home on April 23.

Eight residents of the Sunnyview Place participated in their weekly bean bag toss on April 23, playing eight ends. Gerry Taylor and Robin Larson tied for first with 71 points.

Nine residents of Sunnyview Place played 10 frames in their weekly bowling tournament on April 25. Ada Murray won first for the ladies with 114 points and Cecil Guest won first for the men with 91 points.

Visiting with Debbie and John Sheppard is their son Jason and Jen Sheppard and Regean and Avery from Porcupine Plain.

Visiting with Charlie Grainger on April 23 at Sunnyview Place was Dona and Dennis Budholdt from Regina.

The Pangman Catholic Ladies supplied a chicken dinner for residents at Sunnyview Place on April 16. During the afternoon, Mel and Friends from Weyburn entertained the residents with music and helped celebrate the April birthdays of residents. Celebrating birthdays was Marguerite Guest. The ladies group also supplied lunch later in the afternoon.

Pangman graduation will be held at the Pangman gym on Friday, May 4 with Andrea Lillejord, Brandon Tessier, Brea Nyhus, Brittany Colbow, Dayna Mann, Markus Newhart and Meghan Tuck graduating.
